WHAT IS RITE OF PASSAGE?
A rite of passage is a ceremonial acknowledgement of one stage of life coming to completion and the beginning of another. These transitions are often marked by significant life events such as birth, the journey from childhood into adolescence, menstruation, marriage, motherhood, menopause, and death.
While rites of passage are often associated with life's major milestones, they can honour any meaningful transition that brings growth and transformation. Women, in particular, move through many seasons throughout their lives, each carrying its own lessons, challenges, and gifts. These transitions deserve to be honoured and respected, allowing us to consciously release what has been and create space for what is emerging.
In a world so focused on maintaining a certain appearance, identity, or level of ability, we have lost touch with the beauty of welcoming each new version of ourselves. Through ritual, reflection, and sisterhood, we can embrace these transitions with wisdom, acceptance, and love, trusting that each stage of life holds its own sacred purpose.
